BIOCATNET - Network in biocatalyst discovery, development and scale up

Four funding schemes that are exclusively available to all BIOCATNET members:

Proof-of-Concept Funds:

Funding is available to all BIOCATNET members for short-term Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects. These projects are designed to stimulate collaborations between BIOCATNET members leading to further applications for funding.

Click here for more information on Proof-of-Concept Funds and current Calls.

Industrial Biotechnology Seeding Catalyst Awards:

Supported by the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund and available to all BIOCATNET members, these awards are intended to fund short collaborative projects between academic and industrial members with the aim of facilitating translational activities.

Click here for more information on Industrial Biotechnology Seeding Catalyst Awards.

Business Interaction Vouchers:

Business Interaction Vouchers are available to all BIOCATNET members and are intended to fund (on a matched contribution basis) short collaborative projects in order to encourage and support collaborations between BIOCATNET academic and industrial members.

Awarded funding:

Public summaries of awarded funding can be found here, including details of academic and industrial partners

Travel Bursaries:

Travel bursaries are available to early career and student BIOCATNET members (i.e. students, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers). These are intended to fund essential travel and expenses to attend BIOCATNET events or other relevant conferences, workshops, events, or placements. BIOCATNET is able to reimburse eligible costs after receipt of a properly completed University of Manchester expenses claim form, which will be provided to the applicant once the travel has been completed. Eligible costs will be agreed in advance between the Network Managers and the applicant, but will usually not exceed £200.

Other Funding

Membership of BIOCATNET will provide access to consortium-building events to develop Network-supported applications to the Innovate UK and RCUK funding, and Horizon 2020.

Horizon 2020

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) – in addition to the private investment that this money will attract. It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market.

Detail of the Horizon 2020 funding programme can be found here

RCUK and Innovate UK

BBSRC, EPSRC and Innovate UK run specific IB focussed research funding calls throughout the year. Details of the funding calls can be found on the respective websites.
